Small Things

I really like this well known quote attributed to Kurt Vonnegut. As I looked at various sites, it said it wasn’t written by him. Oh well. Whoever wrote it, I do find it thought-provoking and true. Often we wait for the big events to happen and ignore all the small moments making up our daily lives.
We tend to get complacent and stop seeing as we get older, losing that childlike sense of wonder. I find that a bit sad. We need to realize that the small stuff is big.
Since I have been pursuing my photography passion more seriously, I really notice my "small things" that much more.
Here are some photos of my “small things” from yesterday on my trip into Ottawa to get the car serviced. I like to leave the car at the mechanic’s and walk along, taking photos of anything I find interesting. I love the rose bushes beside the car dealer and always take lots of photos with the bees buzzing on them. The weather was perfect yesterday, not too hot, not too cold but just right.

I am taking part in the blogging festival going on at Write Tribe this week with the theme of Creativity and Inspiration.
Write Tribe Festival of Words

I am using the prompt of making a recipe for something other than food. This is my recipe for Happiness Cake.
(This is not one of my cake photos as I don't have a happy-faced cake so I photo edited a photo from Angels on Morguefile.com.)

Recipe for Happiness Cake
Start with a positive attitude Blended with plenty of gratitude, Add a sprinkle of faith and a dash of hope And lots of forgiveness to help you cope,
Throw in some acceptance and let things go Add some humor to make it flow, A big scoop of joy mixed with kindness and love Will make your cake fit for the gods above,
Share your recipe with everyone you know And watch the happiness grow and grow!

Write Tribe Festival of Words

I decided to try this challenge of incorporating all these words into a post. learning-new-words-and-their-meanings So I did what I enjoy doing and wrote them into a ballad.

The words are
gainsaygeminatehideboundquidnunceternizetatterdemalionmiddlingHarold the hidebound lives alone He doesn’t even have a phone, He inherited his parents’ place A middling house without much space,
He’s a tatterdemalion in a worn tweed suit Soaked in the scent of ten-year-old Brute, His neighbor Sadie yells across the fence “What’s the matter Harry, you seem so tense?”
Why are you wearing that suit in this heat?” Harry looks startled and tries to retreat, “Not so fast, Harry,” Sadie runs to his side “Why are you always trying to hide?”

“Can’t a guy live in peace?” he asks with a frown She says, “Not while I’m living in this town.”
